Yom Ha’Atzmaut at YISE Nursery teaches Ahavat Eretz Yisrael
YISE Nursery children spent a week “in Israel” in celebration of Yom Ha’Atzmaut. “First we re-enacted a plane flight, going through customs, getting our passports stamped and watching an inflight video,” said Morah Debby Greengart.
“Once we got there we went straight to the “kotel” in Jerusalem where we davened. Next we toured to Haifa, Tel Aviv and Sefad. We went on an archaeological dig, visited an army base, a hospital, a yeshiva and then we went boating and scuba diving in Haifa. Finally we all went on a parade and sang Ha’Tikvah.”
YISE Nursery children paint
For a preschooler, painting at an easel uses the whole body, from head to toe. For that reason, YISE Nursery children are encouraged to simply put paint to paper as often as they can.
“It is messy but important work for a child,” said Morah Freyda Schneider, teacher of the NEW TWOs class.
The Wright Brothers Inspire
YISE Nursery 4-year-olds recently visited the Takoma Park Airport Museum and learned about the Wright Brothers – an inspiring story of perseverance, creativity and courage. “The interactive museum is a perfect place for children to learn about aerodynamics, flight, adventure and hard work,” said Morah Beth Singer.
